2022 WEEK 9 RANKINGS

Eight weeks down and things are still tight in KAOS. 7 teams are in the 4-5 win range and only 110 points separate the 1st and 9th total point scorers. What does al this mean? That everyone should be out there looking to make the trade that pushes their team into the playoffs this year. Yes, even you Skoal Bandits. Trade 2-3 of your productive players for a guy you can keep for 2023. Here is what I see as each teams key need as well as trade-able assets:

  • Dark Helmet - They have a 6-2 record but they're only averaging 135 points game. This team could use a top 10 Wide Receiver. Higgins and Lockett are solid, but they share targets with their more talented teammates. Helmet has spare RBs (Jacobs/Carter) they could use for an upgrade.

  • '69 Olds - This looks a lot like last years team that led their division up until the last week, but they are in the middle of the road in scoring (132/game). The QBs are the best and RB1/WR1 are set with Cook and Kupp. I really can't find a trade that makes sense here for Ray-Ray. The RB2/WR2/Flex could use an upgrade, but I don't see any spare parts that can be used in a trade.

  • Big Rock 2X - The QBs are good, The RBs are elite and Jefferson is a Top 5 WR. Maybe they can package 2 or 3 of their mid-tier WRs to get a top-25 WR for the flex spot. They could also use a Tight End, but there are not many available that would be an upgrade.

  • Springfield Flanders - This is a team that could use a little bit of everything and a lot of help at QB. Ja'Marr Chase is the best receiver in the game, but is currently hurt and may be out awhile. If that is the case, a playoff push is going to be very difficult. Diggs and Brown are Top-10 WRs and rookie Dameon Pierce has been a nice addition. But this team is banged up and needs some reinforcements. Maybe look to trade Chase (if he is going to be out for more than a month) for 3 good (not keeper) players. Chase for Murray, Kittle and Stevenson would make a lot of sense for both teams.

  • Peeping Tomlins - The sting of wasting a high draft pick on Aaron Rodger (QB15) is lessened with the waiver wire pickup of Geno Smith (QB7). Nobody has a better RB trio of Nick Chubb, Kenny Walker III and Joe Mixon, while Keenan Allen and Chris Olave are a good WR1/WR2 tandem.  Maybe Mixon can be used to upgrade the QB2 spot.

  • Wrath of Kahn - The QBs look good now that Justin Fields is figuring things out while Hill and Samual make an impressive one-two punch at WR. Maybe Jim can find someone willing to take a chance on Russell Wilson in an effort to improve the shaky RB situatio. With Jeff Wilson heading to Miami, Mostert should see a decline in usage.

  • Milford Football Team - This team is stacked at the top (Josh Allen - QB1, CMC - RB2, Travis Etienne - RB18 and climbing, Mark Andrews TE2 and Mike Evans WR12). Maybe he could use his RB Depth (Hunt/Robinson/Drake) to upgrade the QB2 spot. The best bet here is to stand pat and hope it's enough to grab a playoff spot.

  • Black Ghostbusters - Another team i the same boat as MFT are the Ghostbusters. There is a lot of talent here (Swift/Taylor/Kelce/Adams/Pittman) that has not performed up to preseason expectations. The QB situation has stabilized with the recent performance of Mariotta (QB8) and the trade for Trevor Lawrence (QB10), so the best bet here would be to hold on to what they have and hope for different results in the 2nd half of the season (I know... The definition of insanity).

  • Mel Kiper's Best Available - Pete has a QB to spare with Prescott's return from injury. There are a lot of good pieces on this roster, the difficulty is find the right mix to play behind Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Jaylen Waddle and CeeDee Lamb. Pete could use some help at RB2 and has the assets (DJ Moore, Christian Kirk, Deandre Hopkins) to make a deal.

  • Skoal Bandits - The Bandits are the only team that is out of the running this year. But, there are some usable assets that can be used to help himself for 2023. Kyler Murray, Rhamondre Stevenson, George Kittle and Ezekiel Elliot could help a lot of teams on the playoff bubble. Packaging two or three from that list should be enough to bag a keeper for next year .

Now on to our rankings (which will be brief after that long trade manifesto):

#1  - Dark Helmet

Helmet reclaims the top spot this week with a 179-167 victory over '69 Olds. Kamara (42), Tua (35) and Pitts (19) led the way in this one. If Kamara can get back on track and Pitts becomes more consistent, Dan could be this year's team to beat.

Ray Logo_edited.jpg

#2 '69 Olds

Ray lost a heartbreaker to the other division leader last week in a high scoring game/ Hurts (36), Cooks (26) and Kupp (22) kept it close, but Tyler Boyd went up against Tee Higgins on MNF needing to outscore him by 10 points, but it wasn't meant to be.

# 3 - Big Rock 2X

Cousins (27), Cooper (22), and Jones (20) led a balanced attack for a win over Flanders this week. Things were tight midway through the first half on MNF, but Amari Cooper caught fire late and was enough to overcome Burrow's interception filled outing.

Flanders Logo .jpeg

#4 - Springfield Flanders

The WRs AJ Brown (39), Diggs (22) and even Romeo Doubs (16) played well in a losing effort. Derek Carrs 1.94 outing was a killer. Jimmy G (21) has been solid off the waiver wire.

#5 - Peeping Tomlins

Another MNF nail biter as Jared needed 40 points from his RB duo of Nick Chubb and Joe Mixon. Nick Chubb (26) delivered, but Mixon (13) did not as Jared goes down in a 2 point loss to everyone's favorite Uncle. Geno Smith (23) continues to play at a high level.

Khan Logo_edited.jpg

# 6 - Wrath of Khan

Jimmy got stomped like a narc at a biker rally this week as Pete nearly put up 200 points on Wrath of Kahn. QB Justin Fields (30) continues to improve and Hill (31) is dominating. Herbert is back in the lineup next week and is clear of his bye. Hopefully Jim won't have to start Russell Wilson (15).

MFT Logo_edited.jpg

#7 Milford Football Team

CJ beat-up his dad this week in a game that will be exhibit A in his elder abuse trial. CMC (42) had a monster game (1-rush/1-pass/1-rec td) with Etienne (26), and Brissett (22) chipping in for the easy victory.

BG Logo_edited.jpg

#8 Black Ghostbusters

The Ghostbusters keep sputtering along on the win one lose one express that is the 2022 season. Pollard (36), Mariotta (28) and Swift (14) did enough to squeak out the win.

CMC logo_edited.jpg

#9 - Mel Kiper's Best Available

Pete scored more points (197) this week than he did in weeks 5 and 6 combined (169). Henry (38), Hopkins (33) and Waddle (30) all had huge games as they rolled to the easy week 8 victory.

Bandits Logo_edited_edited.jpg

#10 Skoal Bandits

Skoal Bandits bid to win 2 games in a row fell 20 points short this week. Murray (30), Stevenson (21) and Stafford (19) were solid, but it was not enough to beat CJ this week.
