2023 WEEK 12 RANKINGS

It was a strange week as the 6 teams in the playoff picture went a combined 2-4. Is it fatigue, injuries or just the pressure of being in a tight playoff race? I don't know, but everyone has two weeks left to figure your shit out. And to add to the degree of difficulty we have the trade deadline coming up right after this week's games. Our Trade Deadline is next Wednesday, November 29th at Noon Eastern Time. You will then need to rely on the waiver wire to pickup any help your team may need after that.

The week before the deadline has been active as the Ghostbusters continue to wave the white flag and dump quality players in  exchange for help next year. Judging by some of the responses I received after the transaction, there are still teams out there looking to deal. Here is a look at the buyers and sellers that could still use an upgrade.

BUYERS

Stick Rock - The injury news just keeps getting worse. Just 3 weeks after losing Kirk Cousins, Joe Burrow goes down with a season-ending hand injury. To further the problem, star WR Justin Jefferson is still on IR and probably won't be back until after their Week 13 bye.  If this team has any hope of repeating as Champions, they'll need to upgrade the QB spot. Right now, you have Jefferson, St. Brown, Dell and Allen as WRs. That's 4 guys for only 3 slots. I know having depth helps, but it's the end of the season. What good is a great guy on your bench when you have two gaping holes in your lineup (QB1/QB2). Give your cousin Jared a call. Keenan Allen or Tank Dell for Russell Wilson makes a lot of sense. He can toss in a TE to even out the trade.

Wrath of Kahn - Kahn could use another WR. In a league dominated by big play receivers, Jimmy has Tyreek Hill and... nothing else. The problem is he doesn't have a spare keeper to trade a non-contender and the only asset on the bench that could help another team is probably Justin Fields. Maybe a Fields to Rocky for Deandre Hopkins or Christian Kirk trade could help both teams.

Springfield Flanders - Glenn made his big move this morning by trading Jamar Chase to add depth to his roster as he readies himself for the playoffs. The only work left to be done is scour the waiver wire for advantageous D/ST matchups in Weeks 14-17.

Milford Football Team - CJ has a lot of interesting directions he can go in here. He has an extra QB he could deal (Kyler Murray or Geno Smith), he has blue chip players (CMC, Josh Allen) he can trade in a 3 for 1 swap to fortify multiple positions or he could do nothing and hope he can hold on to his slim lead in the standings over Mel Kiper's BA. A QB trade could look something like this: Nico Collins and Kyler Murray to Rocky for Keenan Allen.

Mel Kiper's BA - The Achane injury situation complicates matters for this team. Can he be depended on for the rest of the season or will this under-sized RB constantly be an injury risk. Either way Pete could use help at the flex spot, so another WR or RB could help the cause. Would an Achane/LaPorta trade to Skoal Bandits for Bijan Robinson and Chris Olave interest either team?

Peeping Tomlins - Jared still remains alive for the fourth playoff spot. This team has scored consistently well all year but they still could use an upgrade at WR. If Rocky does not want to part with any of his WRs, check out Ray's roster. If you are willing to send out KWIII, that may be enough to get Brandon Aiyuk in return.

SELLERS

Black Ghostbusters - You could build a contending roster on the talent the Ghostbusters have traded this year. QB Trevor Lawrence, RBs Isaiah Pacheco/Tony Pollard, WRs DJ Moore/Puka Nakua and TE Travis Kelce. Do you have any idea what a team with those starting players could accomplish? Oh, wait. I do know because I did it. It led to a team that was in 8th place for most of the season. That being said, I can still offer a mix and match of 3 players out of Dobbs/Kupp/Kincaid/Jaylen Warren/Javonte Williams/Rhamondre Stevens/Jerome Ford. If you want to trade me your best players, I can trade Davante Adams, Jonathan Taylor or Breece Hall plus two other players from the list above.

'69 Olds - I get it. Having a team that has Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts seems like it would be awesome. But after a 3-win season and 2nd lowest point total in the league, it may be time to break them up in return for 2 keepers. If you were to put one of those guys on the market you could get a haul in return. How about Mahomes or Hurts plus Isaiah Pacheco to Stick Rock for  Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and D'Anfre Swift? The only people who would say no to that are the eight other league managers who would be pissed that the #1 team gets a stud QB and that Ray would start next season with Burrow/Swift/Jefferson/DJ Moore.

Skoal Bandits - The Bandits have some RB and WR help they can deal to help a contender win-now. Jimmy needs a WR and he can deal Justin Fields. I don't think Fields is a Keeper, but Craig may feel otherwise (or maybe he can spin him off in a separate trade.) Olave or Pittman for Fields is a trade that could help both teams.

Dark Helmet - This team has been a dumpster fire all season, but he does have Tua at QB. And he has let it be known that Tua is untouchable. After that, the RBs are kind of good. But this isn't 2017 and nobody seems to value that position any more. I don't see a trade here that can help a contender that is worth giving up a potential keeper for.

Now on to the rankings:

#1 Big Rock 2X

This team keeps winning no matter who they roll out at QB. The WR Trio of St Brown (21), Dell (31) and Allen (27) led the way in this one.

#2 (Tie) - Springfield Flanders

This team has struggled to score for the last month. It all started with leaving the QB spot empty in Week 9 and now karma is coming back to bite him. Always put up points when you can. Brock Purdy (33) was awesome this week while Jared Goff (17) was the only other player to score over 12 points. Flanders has now lost 2 out of their last 3 games after their 6-game winning streak came to an end.

Khan Logo_edited.jpg

# 2 (Tie) - Wrath of Khan

Jim continues to roll with a 183 point outing this week. Is he peaking too soon? Justin Herbert (30), Tyreke Hill (30) and Dak Prescott (20) led them to the easy victory.

CMC logo_edited.jpg

#4 Mel Kipers Best Available

Man, this team looked like it was hitting it's stride. After their Week 9 win over MFT, they were in a tie for 1st place and held the head-to-head tiebreaker over Wrath of Kahn. Since then, they lost two games and have seen their hopes of winning a division title twindle to almost nothing. The downfall was capped off by a loss to a team that has been selling off pieces since mid-October. Lamar Jackson (27), Sam Howell (19) and Conrad Sutton (16) played well in a losing effort.

#5 Peeping Tomlins

If this season were another 3 weeks longer, I believe that Jared would overtake the two teams in front of him for the final playoff spot. But there are only 2 weeks and I am afraid they may be out of time. A loss to Wrath of Kahn hurts and he finds himself 75 points out of the last playoff spot. George Kittle (22), Joe Mixon (21) and DJ Metcalf (20) were the high scorers for the week.

MFT Logo_edited.jpg

#6 Milford Football Team

Woof! a 0.52 loss to the last place team has go to sting. Josh Allen (29), Kyler Murray (23) and Dallas D/ST (22) played well in a losing effort.

BG Logo_edited.jpg

#7 Black Ghostbusters

Ghostbusters are 5-2 after their slow start. Big F-ing deal. Jordan Love (24), Davante Adams (23) and Josh Dobbs (18) led them to victory over MKBA.

Ray Logo_edited.jpg

#8  '69 Olds

Ray-Ray squeaked one out this week playing the role of spoiler against MFT. Brandon Aiyuk (28), Buf D/ST (24) and DJ Moore (22) had strong performances to lead them to their first victory since WEEK 5!

Bandits Logo_edited_edited.jpg

#9 Skoal Bandits

The 2-week winning streak is over, but they are at least competitive. Jahmyr Gibbs (21) continues to produce while waiver wire pickup Khalil Shakir (22) had a long TD catch against the tough Jets defense. Devin Singletary (20) also performed well in a losing effort.

Helmet Logo.jpeg

#10  - Dark Helmet

Barkley (30) and Tua (21) were awesome! The rest of the team was not. But 120 points was enough this week to get Dan his 2nd win of the season.
